Apparently, the research to create a light bulb that lasts 60 years is near its completion. In fact, the Cambridge University team of researchers who have initiated the research are pretty close to bringing the production of LED bulbs into the market which has a very ‘extended’ lifespan of usage.
Of course, this team of researchers claimed that their light bulb could last 60 years – but it hasn’t passed the basic test of time. I don’t think that they have proven in reality that their light bulb could last 60 years – it’s just in theory and based on controlled research environment that these bulbs could last that long.
On the other hand, if these LED light bulbs does what it is designed to, it could last up to 100,000 hours of none stop usage, or you could also translate that to 60 years.
So you might be wondering how much these high tech and revolutionary LED bulbs would cost you – it’s pretty cheap, it only would cost you $2.85.

Looking for an ultra portable netbook which can fit perfectly in a suitcase disguise? Well the ‘brotato’ suitcase certainly fits the criteria as James Bond’s next super netbook weapon that he could carry around in a suitcase, without raising alarm from his villains.
The actual brotato model comes with a 14.2 inch LCD screen latched to the top of the suitcase and the main hardware sits at the bottom compartment. It comes with a cooling fan and all the necessary wires to keep the netbook running as it should. What’s even more interesting is the fact that it utilizes a 1.6GHz Atom processor and it even has 2GB of RAM, 160GB of hard disk space and 802.11n WiFi for you to surf the internet.
On the other hand, you can install Windows XP, Windows 7 or even Mac OS X onto it – depending on your ‘espionage’ preference.
Of course, this isn’t really something that PC manufacturers would push out into the market as it looks simply plain stupid to use in Starbucks or Coffee Bean. But it’s a magnificent achievement for someone who has actually created this working prototype – just for the fun of it.
Behold, the Brotato!

Previously, China was enjoying a GDP rate of 12 plus percent for 2008, but the figure dwindled to close to half of its original value to a mere 6.8 percent. What makes things even worse is the fact that China is suffering similar fate like the rest of the world whereby mega multinational corporations are firing their workers by the thousands. On the other hand, the slump in demand for electronic goods would mean that goods manufactured from China would have no where to go.
Although China’s communist government has devised a $586 financial stimulus plan to kick start the economy, I don’t think that the stimulus plan would has a deep impact on the overall economy.
On the other hand, local companies in China are brutally fighting for a piece of their internal market share. Being one of the most populated countries in the world, China has over 1.3 billion people living in the country alone. I believe that would mean huge potential for local market consumption.
However, what makes things worse for China at the moment is the fact that their stock market has plunged so much since the end of the Olympics 2008, it’s hard to believe that China has the capability to recover from the recession very soon.
